Google Checkout Trends

Friday, January 11th, 2008

Some of you might be using Google Trends, if not it allows you to track and compare what Google users are searching for.  Google has gone one step further for us eCommerce junkies and introduced Google Checkout Trends.  This is very similar in that it gives you insight into what people are buying and selling online.  This data is directly aggregated from Google Checkout merchants.  So if your interested in comparing sales of Fluke Multimeters or Flir Infracam Thermal Imaging Cameras or just wondering how popular an item is, Google Checkout Trends will give you that.

Google Analytics Site Search

Monday, December 17th, 2007

Google Analytics is great for showing just about everything about your users. I’ve noticed that some of my clients have not even touch on one special feature in Google Analytics. The Site Search. From an SEM standpoint this is a goldmine of information because every time a user lands on your site and performs a search ( if you have a search box ), they literally tell you in their own words what they are looking for. This gives you the access to drill down and see how they attempted to refine their search when they didn’t find what they were looking for. If your running ecommerce you will see how this correlates with conversion. Another sweet section in the Site Search if your doing a lot of ecommerce like me is the ability to break down Categories ( product groups ) and Trending ( track metrics over time ).

The Site Search reports are located within the content section. You will first need to enable Site Search to see the reports.

Whos Got Mad Mouse Skills?

Thursday, July 19th, 2007

gmail-threadless.gifYes.. yes.. I know Gmail and Threadless have a competition going. It’s all over the web now and I expect this to be quite the design competition. I’ve even started the buzz in the office to see who’s got the mad mouse skills. I’ve even pulled out my platinum mouse just for this competition.

The purpose of the Gmail / Threadless competition is to create a stand-alone design inspired by the theme, not a brand tee. Your design should not have the brand name or logo on it.

What the BIG Dawgs gets

  • 8 gb Apple iPhone!
  • Jawbone BlueTooth Headset
  • $400 gift card for JetBlue Airlines
  • A TON of Google memorabilia. You won’t even believe it.
  • $500 Threadless Gift Certificate (can be redeemed for $200 cash)
  • $2,000 in cash!

New and Improved Google Analytics

Wednesday, May 9th, 2007

See the forest. And the trees.
The new Google Analytics graphing tool displays your analysis within the context of larger trends.

I’m currently reviewing Analytics on one of our accounts. So far I”m very impressed with this new version of Analytics. I’ll give my full update once I’ve had the chance to fully dig in.
