What’s the Big Deal about SEO Anyway?
Sunday, September 28th, 2008Many of the clients who approach us at camrondeen.com already have a website. Often we will hear complaints such as “Why have a website when no one can find it?” or “Why spend money on a website, just to have it lost somewhere in the world wide web, unnoticed, collecting virtual dust?” We couldn’t agree more. The solution for this type of complaint is Search Engine Optimization. Search Engine Optimization (SEO) has become a necessary marketing tool for any company with a web presence. No better way exists for increased traffic to a website than successful SEO. Unlike many other forms of marketing, SEO is affordable and long-lasting. Often times, business owners can be wary of spending money on SEO marketing. Sometimes these owners have been in business a long time, and are not aware of how effective SEO can be. They have usually used other marketing techniques for years, and it can be difficult to first grasp that times have changed. Traditional forms of marketing such as direct mail and newspaper ads are not as effective as they once were. Traditional marketing can be expensive, exhausting and exasperating and is often “in your face.” Direct mail, ads, and even television forces your message upon an audience. SEO reverses the psychology; you are putting yourself in front of people who are actively looking for the kinds of products and/or services you provide. You provide the information they are already looking for. Think about the benefit of “pulling” inquiries from web traffic rather than “pushing” messages on those who had no interest in the first place. Search Engine Optimization has distinct advantages for the small to large business owner. It is long lasting, affordable, embraces an evolving medium, and connects you with people who are already looking for what you offer. Now we are not suggesting to only use SEO for marketing; however, we strongly consider pursuing this avenue of marketing. Search engine visibility can and certainly does wonders for any type of business.
