News from Camron Deen: San Diego Web Design & Development and SEM/SEO Services | Phone: (760) 712-3478
The interests of our San Diego staff include web design and web development, SEM and SEO services, and so much more; that's our rationale for posting just about everything of interest to us, and maybe to you. It's our prerogative. We hope you enjoy and benefit from our News page.
News about web design is always entertaining, since the ideas and advice constantly change and evolve; web development trends do the same. And with the search engines such as Google and Yahoo changing their search algorithms whenever it suits them, keeping up with the Joneses of SEO (search engine optimization) and SEM (search engine marketing) services is a must.
At the other pole of our little universe are the interests that are completely unrelated to web design, SEO, etc. — such as San Diego (beaches, surfing, sunshine, ooh), what's cool on the Internet (we hardly know where to start), and general cool stuff (a term that's hard to define, but we know it when we see it). Enjoy!

“Many iPhone users are learning to their surprise that they can make ringtones from only a relatively small number of songs.”
So you’ve come to find out that you can’t get your favorite song as a ringtone for only a $1. Well Apple will help you make a
ringtone for free with iTunes. Ready?
Step 1:
Find the song you want to convert in your iTunes Library. Make a playlist called ringtones and put your song(s) in the playlist.
Step 2:
You will need to cut the song to about 30 seconds in length. Go to File -> Get Info -> Options. Here you will set the Start and Stop to 30 seconds.
Step 3:
Next you will need to set iTunes to convert your music to 22 khz Sample Rate and Channels to mono encoding.
Step 4:
Right click on the song to convert selection to mp3.
Step 5:
Using your bluetooth connection send the audio files to your phone. If you don’t have bluetooth you can use a USB Bluetooth adapter.
Browse to you new ringtone and select it.
I was browsing through Craigslist and I noticed that they are running a new layout. Seems like its only for SF right now.
“Again: we can confirm with 100% certainty that iPhoneSIMfree.com’s software solution completely SIM unlocks the iPhone, is restore-resistant, and should make the iPhone fully functional for users outside of the US.”
The requirements: The minimum order is 50 licenses. This is not negotiable. Any order below, please contact one of our reseller in the where to buy section.
We offer price breaks for 50, 100, 250, 500, 1000, 2500 and 5000 licenses.
Now I’ve already done a few searches and you can find people who have bought licenses and will unlock your phone for as little as $50.00. I’m just surprised it took so long. Now with the price drop on the iPhone and I can use my current service I may just pick one up now.
This weekend I Stumbled Upon GeekTool. After wondering what I could do with this tool that might be useful to me, I did a few searches and found First Clown. My first two favs are Database Checker & Web Server Checker which are handy for someone like me who’s got a few eCommerce site’s running. The runners up in the list are Minutiae, Network, and iCal. And the search goes on for new scripts.
They say that more than any other medium of advertising, video conveys an image of credibility, innovation and success. Which is why I see more and more marketing companies offering video for lawyers. Videos allow the potential client to be engaged by compelling video and graphics thus enabling the client to get a real feel for the law firm and attorneys. The one reason for lawyer videos is conversions. The best part about lawyer videos is most of the companies take care of the video production from start-to-finish. Everything from pre-production, production, post-production services and scripting. Even Video SEO for lawyers, which makes video easily accessible through You Tube, Google Video and many others all of which will increase your website traffic and client contacts. So far I’ve seen prices range from $30,000.00 to $5,000.00.
I’m up at 6am and working till midnight almost seven days a week. During this time I’m constantly doing research on everything from code to products such as apple. I had just recently bought an iMac 17inch which I thought was pretty cool and cheap at $1200. The other day I was doing a little research and found people talking about rumors about Apple launching a new iMac. They were talking about aluminum case, glass screen, and new keyboard among many of other features. So what did I do? I returned that iMac 17inch on the 29th day for a full refund and ordered a brand new 20inch for the same price. Nice huh. So all I’m saying is it pays to be in the know, constantly educating yourself in every aspect.
Those dotted lines you see or don’t see are technically called a “selection rectangle” and the reason they exists is in order to help the user. The dotted rectangle appears when the active text or image link has (focus). The dotted rectangle area remains as long as the focus is set on the link. For the most part the rectangle pretty much stays on the screen even if focus is moved from link to link such as tabbed navigation. In my opinion is looks funky when you have this clean design and every time you click, up pops this sweet dotted rectangle box. Well here is my solution.
Solution:
a:active { outline:none; }
Example Selection Rectangle:

Yes.. yes.. I know Gmail and Threadless have a competition going. It’s all over the web now and I expect this to be quite the design competition. I’ve even started the buzz in the office to see who’s got the mad mouse skills. I’ve even pulled out my platinum mouse just for this competition.
The purpose of the Gmail / Threadless competition is to create a stand-alone design inspired by the theme, not a brand tee. Your design should not have the brand name or logo on it.

I was reading this post on Search Engine Roundtable “Can You SEO a Site in Less than 60 Minutes?” I thought this was kinda funny because over the weekend I was working a new client’s web site that had no rank what so ever. I did a few tweaks in ten minutes, and searched the keywords I was looking for in Google four hours later. Bam top of page 6! So Yes for the most part I guess some SEO can be done in less than 60 minutes.
